A Challenger Appears: Ubuntu Smartphones Incoming

Some of our loyal customers may not be too keen as to what Ubuntu is; simply put it is a stable consumer operating system based on Linux. A few entrepreneurs now wish to bring this computing platform into the realm of smartphones in order to compete with the likes of Google's Android OS and Apple's iOS. Their biggest target: emerging markets where smartphone sales have yet to take off. In many of these places (China, Africa) Ubuntu is already a relatively popular computing platform so consumers may be more inclined to stick within the Ubuntu ecosystem when they purchase a smartphone.
