In Memory of 9/11/2001

On 9/11/2001, I was at home asleep.  I was supposed to make sure my son got to the airport that day to report for duty in South Korea.  A friend of his called waking me up.  He told us to turn on the TV.  A big accident had happened in New York.  We were hearing about this horrible incident when we watched (and, I mean watched) the second airplane hit the second tower.  Unashamedly, we cried.  Both of us knew this was NOT an accident but an act of terror.  While still sitting there, we watched an airplane in Washington, DC, make a sharp right turn and crash into the Pentagon.  And, on top of that, on the same day, we heard about Pennsylvania.  I called my mother to let her know we were at war (she didn't watch TV in the mornings).  All planes were grounded, so my son HAD to stay home for my birthday later that week.  I would much rather he had just called me from South Korea.

Where were you on 9/11?  What were you doing?  12 years later, I still cry.
