Made in America?

Is the Motorola Moto X the only cell phone made in America? After all the discussions and news items about "Made in America," I would think this would be the top seller.  Now, what we need are for the parts to be made in America.  Someone give us a true Made in America cell phone, and I will tout it everywhere.  Meanwhile, the Moto X is as close as we get.  It has great reviews and you can design it yourself.  I checked it out, and the choices are pretty nice.

Is Your Phone Immune to Snow?

In most states these past few weeks, there has been some major snow and ice issues. And, as we learned in science class, snow and ice are just another form of water. Did you drop your phone in the snow? Your phone may have water damage. Let The CellPhone Doctor check it out for you.

Laugh and the World Laughs With You

We have seen the creations of Star Trek come true - next...the Simpsons.  Here are some predictions for the Google Glass.  Laughing keeps you warm during this time of freezing temperatures.  Sharing a laugh keeps you warmer.

What About the iPod?

The iPod has many uses.  My son uses his on deployment as his phone is of no use, so why pay the contract?  His iPod allows him to Skype with his family, take photos, stream movies as well as keep his music library.  They are very handy devices in this type of situation.

MLK

"I have a dream."  In my lifetime, I have seen that dream come to fruition.  MLK was a great man!  His "dream" changed the United States and the world.  We have made a great many strides toward that dream.  We will make a great many more.

Is the NSA the Bogeyman?

Cell phones have used GPS technology for years.  I took my time switching to a new phone because I had my doubts about whether I wanted anyone to know where I was 24/7.  But, GPS was installed more for parental concerns as well as being able to find you in an accident.  We can't find you, we can't help you.  No one can blame the NSA for pulling such data.  Once it is out there, it is no longer yours.  The majority of people wanted "on the grid" so bad so they could be "cooler" than everyone else.  We have no one to blame but ourselves.  My opinion - I was amazed no one had already assumed that the NSA was keeping tabs.  My response was, "Of course."

What Color is Your Cell Phone?

Women have always known that basic black is classy, ergo the little black.  Women with a little more confidence would go with a white ensemble.  When cell phones were more of a show-off item, basic black and white were great.  Just happy to be able to afford a cell phone and the monthly bill.  We shopped carriers more than brand.  Cell phones are now a necessity for everyone age 10 to 100.  Basic black is still great.  Shiny white is still pretty.  Some of us, though, have a more creative side (or just like shiny colors).  Having a choice in colors is more than a trend - it is here to stay.  Personally, I'm still looking for phone to match my car (lime green) or a pretty, shiny, dark purple.  A cell phone is an accessory for women - just like makeup, shoes, purses - whatever your style.

Gunman Shoots Texter

People seem to be so much more irritable these days.  Yes, texting is rude in a movie theater.  Carrying a gun to same theater is even worse.  A mid 40s gentleman was shot by a retired police man over just such rudeness.  Seems a tad bit extreme, don't you think?  It's not like rudeness is new in movie theaters - there are always the whisperers who aren't as quiet they think.  Or, the young couples being a bit more affectionate than one wants to see in public.  Or, the person who chews too loudly.  And, the people who "forget" to turn off their cell phones.  I never actually considered shooting them.  Complain to the manager maybe.  (Or, "accidentally" kick their chair.)  We know better than to go berserk over these minor irritations.  And, a retired policeman in a large city (Tampa) knows the consequences of irritability.  And, he should know the consequences of carrying a gun in public if he is easily irritated.  No one deserves to die for texting before a movie begins.

I Give You Myself . . . In Chocolate

I want one of these printers.  I think a bakery that does wedding cakes could make the "perfect" wedding cake topper with this.  And, for Valentine's Day, it would be the perfect symbolism of giving yourself to your beloved.  What a world!

Simplify Your Life - Buy a Cell Phone

Was wondering this AM - how many things/items has the cell phone replaced.  For example, a land line is now a choice, not a necessity.  I haven't used an actual address book in years - or a daily planner.  When traveling, no need for wake up calls or alarm clocks.  Bored?  There are always games and music right there, available now.  Just remember the earphones so you don't annoy anyone.  Next, I'm betting cameras go.  A cell phone is always carried - very rarely, if ever, left behind.  Some cell phones take awesome pictures; almost as good as my DSLR.  Not quite as good, but in time, a cell phone could surpass the need of a camera.  What else?  Yes, phablets replace books.  With a keyboard, it could replace my computer.  Let me know what else you think a cell phone will replace.

2014 is Here!

Welcome to 2014!  May it be everything you want and/or need. The very best resolution one can make is to learn to accept who you are, strive for what you can be and quit making those blasted resolutions. Only you can make yourself happy - others can only make you "feel" happy for a time.  So, laugh, smile and love.  Have a wonderful 2014.
