Do you really love your iPhone?

Have you ever heard someone say they love their car? How about their home, computer, or favorite movie?

Well what about their cell phone—in particular—their iPhone? Some say they simply cannot live without it. Once you own one, you can’t go back. The word love is thrown around a lot, no doubt, but what if this love of the iPhone were more than just a saying? What if what these people were confessing actually is true love?

As Neuroscience Marketing reported, research conducted by Martin Lindstrom which used fMRI brain scans of subjects exposed to iPhone sounds and video, showed this might actually be the case.

An excerpt from his report states: But most striking of all was the flurry of activation in the insular cortex of the brain, which is associated with feelings of love and compassion. The subjects’ brains responded to the sound of their phones as they would respond to the presence or proximity of a girlfriend, boyfriend or family member. In short, the subjects didn’t demonstrate the classic brain-based signs of addiction. Instead, they loved their iPhones.

Hmmm, not sure if we buy this one or not. Nonetheless, the research is interesting and shows just how much we rely on technology for our everyday needs.

Would you say you truly love your iPhone? Let us know in the comment section below. And heaven forbid you ever drop, crack, or break your phone, you know where you can bring it for repair.
