Mail in repair service coming soon

When the CellPhone Doctor opened its doors back in October, we knew we wanted to offer the community and the city of Louisville a fast, friendly, and trustworthy business for cell phone repair. We also knew that we wanted to add additional services in the future to make getting your cell phone repaired convenient, no matter what side of town you live on.

Coming soon, we’ll be offering you the option of mailing in your damaged cell phone for repair. We’re working to make the process as simple as possible with a quick turnaround time.

We’re still working out some of the specifics, but hope to have this service up and running very soon. The best way for you to stay up-to-date with new happenings, announcements, promotions, and more is to follow us on Facebook and Twitter. You can also sign up to receive our monthly emails (something else we’ll be starting soon!).

Thanks for your business this year. We look forward to servicing you in 2012!

Should you purchase insurance for your cell phone?

Many cell service providers will try to talk you into purchasing insurance to cover the cost of replacing a damaged or ruined cell phone. But should you do it?

Before you pull the trigger on purchasing insurance, you should first ask your cell phone provider exactly what the insurance will cover. Most insurances cover things like cracks to the face of the phone, which are more easily repaired than other more extensive damages.

Most insurances will cover “accidental damages,” but make sure you know what is classified as an “accident.” Some don’t cover water damage, so be sure you’ll be covered if you drop your phone in the toilet (which happens more than you know) or in a pool or lake.

What about a phone that is a total loss? Be sure to ask whether insurance will cover the cost of a replacement phone.

Insurance comes at a price, too and the cost of insurance varies by service provider. Let’s assume cell phone insurance will cost you an additional $3 to $7 per month. Over a two-year contract, you would be paying anywhere from $72 to $168 more.

Is it worth it to you? That’s the question you should ask yourself. If you’re accident prone, maybe so. Other people, however, will take their chances and save the money each month. And if you’re one of those, the CellPhone Doctor is here and available if your cell phone needs repair.

Do you really love your iPhone?

Have you ever heard someone say they love their car? How about their home, computer, or favorite movie?

Well what about their cell phone—in particular—their iPhone? Some say they simply cannot live without it. Once you own one, you can’t go back. The word love is thrown around a lot, no doubt, but what if this love of the iPhone were more than just a saying? What if what these people were confessing actually is true love?

As Neuroscience Marketing reported, research conducted by Martin Lindstrom which used fMRI brain scans of subjects exposed to iPhone sounds and video, showed this might actually be the case.

An excerpt from his report states: But most striking of all was the flurry of activation in the insular cortex of the brain, which is associated with feelings of love and compassion. The subjects’ brains responded to the sound of their phones as they would respond to the presence or proximity of a girlfriend, boyfriend or family member. In short, the subjects didn’t demonstrate the classic brain-based signs of addiction. Instead, they loved their iPhones.

Hmmm, not sure if we buy this one or not. Nonetheless, the research is interesting and shows just how much we rely on technology for our everyday needs.

Would you say you truly love your iPhone? Let us know in the comment section below. And heaven forbid you ever drop, crack, or break your phone, you know where you can bring it for repair.

Cell phone recycling is one way you can help the environment

Are you in the market for a new cell phone? That’s great! But what are you planning to do with your old cell phone? Often times those old phones and batteries sit around in a drawer, untouched – wasted.

The CellPhone Doctor has a better idea – repair, sell, or recycle that old phone. We can help with all three options. We can repair any model of cell phone and we pay cash for used cell phones. Plus we have a recycling drop box if you choose not to keep or sell our old phone.

Did you know…

When you recycle your cell phone, you are helping the environment in a number of ways. Recycling conserves the energy needed to obtain the raw materials used to construct a new product. That also cuts down on the amount of raw materials needed for construction. And it keeps reusable materials, as well as hazardous products, from being dumped into landfills.

Prior to recycling your cell phone or electronic gadget, The CellPhone Doctor recommends the following:

1)Be sure to have your service terminated.
2)Clear the phone’s memory of contacts and any other stored information.
3)Remove your SIM card and shred or cut it in half.

Recycling is such a simple and important way to improve the environment, that the EPA offers a recycling program called Plug-In to eCycling to encourage recycling your cell phone and other electronic devices. Check out their website to learn more.

The CellPhone Doctor is here to help when you’re ready for a new cell phone. Whether you choose to recycle, repair, or sell your old cell phone, it’s always better than throwing it away. That’s just a waste – potentially a hazardous waste. Make the better choice and bring our old cell phone to The CellPhone Doctor.

Cell phones are no match for ice and snow

Did you realize your cell phone can receive water damage in some of the most unlikely ways? With winter upon us, it’s time to think about protecting your cell phone from damage due to ice and snow.

You may be surprised by how easy it is to drop your cell phone while shoveling snow, slipping on icy sidewalks, or just getting in and out of your car on a snowy day. We’ve heard it all.

“Any type of liquid damage, whether it’s from snow, rain, the ocean or even steam from the shower, can prove hazardous to your phone,” said David Leach, CEO of eSecuritel, a leading cell phone insurance provider.

You may have tried the rice-in-the-bag-trick if your cell phone suffered water damage. Maybe it worked – but probably not. That’s one of the biggest cell phone repair myths out there.

If your cell phone sustains any damage – snow-related or otherwise – bring it into our store for professional repairs performed by certified Level 3 technicians. We’re able to repair anything from the most basic flip phone to iPhones, Androids, BlackBerrys, and other smart phones on the market.
